I bought this bowl at a free trade craft fair.  It was made/lacquered in Vietnam and is quite pretty.  In it is one of me and Rob's favorite meals.

I'm so sorry for putting this off.  I'm warning you right now, we recently got a dog, so most of these pictures are of our wonderful doggy, Cypress!

Rob applied for this medal from the state of Maine, the Silver Star.  It's awarded to veterans who got a Purple Heart and saw combat.  We're going to buy a medals case to put this and all his other medals in.

In preparation for our doggy, we bought this bed and three toys :) She ended up tearing up the tiger and the butterfly right away (like within 48 hours), but the rope's still going strong!

Here's Cypress :) She's part Siberian Husky, part Rottweiler, though we think there are some other breeds swimming around in there too.  She's wonderful :)

Cypress looks a lot like my sister Megan's dog, Josie (though she is a bit bigger than Josie).  This little stance is EXACTLY what Josie does--with her legs all spread out and her paws up like a kangaroo.

New hair color.  My mother dyed my hair and it ended up super purple, which my job would NOT have appreciated...so I had to go to the salon and get it color corrected into this dark brown-reddish color.

Our spider plant has gone out of control and now we're letting it grow around the curtain rod.  I like this plant because even if we suck at taking care of it it still explodes. :)

I am a sucker for nice architecture. This is an administrative building on Robbie's campus.  The windows on the sides are huge and you can see beautiful vaulted ceilings, complete with chandeliers and such.

These are staples in me and Rob's diet.  I've eaten the rice since I was a kid...I always called it "Flavor Rice" because it has a really strong flavor (I guess that's the reason).   We usually eat one of these two at most of our meals.

A woman I used to work with in Beloit, Debbie, does beautiful work painting glass and other materials.  She made us these wine glasses, plus some super-cute wine charms, for my graduation gift.  I think they're gorgeous :)  I wish I drank wine!

One of two book pictures.  This is my favorite chapter of the book "The Things They Carried" by Tim O'Brien, called "The Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong."  It's a very good book overall.  I bought it for Robbie since it's war stories written by an average grunt.  So far he really enjoys it.

Second book picture.  I bought this book, "501 Russian Verbs" at UMF's bookstore.  It conjugates 501 Russian verbs, which is absurdly useful.  This verb is the verb "to light" or "to illuminate" and is pronounced "osveshchat."

Robbie's brother, Nick, came to visit us so we could all carpool to a family barbecue.  Here they both are playing Wii.  I think they look a ton alike, but not many people agree.

So I was walking down our very narrow stairs one morning and slipped somehow on my high heels.  I think I left this dent before I crashed down the remaining stairs.  I was in excruciating pain for a good week because of a pulled muscle from this fall.  And now the stairs are forever marked :)

I bought Rob these running shoes for his birthday.  They were originally $140, but knocked down to $70.  Pretty sweet really. :)

Robbie's Wii!  And the four games that we've been playing.  Wii's definitely more of a non-serious game system, which is why I enjoy it so much.  So far my favorite game is Lego Star Wars, which is exactly what it sounds like.

Two of Rob's Army staples.  He had these glasses in Iraq, and they actually saved his eyes once.  I made him the pillow for his 19th birthday and it turned out to be a life saver throughout his time in the Army.  It fit in his rucksack when they went out into the field and he ended up being the only guy with a pillow in the middle of the Alaskan wilderness. :)

You know how sometimes in a department/grocery store people will leave behind whole loads of groceries in an apparent moment of shopping frustration?  Well we saw this today at Walmart and it struck me as so stereotypically female in nature. If you can't read all the labels, there are maxi pads, shampoo/conditioner, pain medicine, headache medicine, and midol.  You know that this was either a woman or a man shopping for one.

Robbie got a Wii for his birthday (which is not until Tuesday).  We had to buy an extra nunchuck and we got a pink cover for it so we'd know it was mine :)

I'll try to make this my last plant picture.  Robbie bought these Venus Fly Traps to help us with our current fruit fly problem.  Hopefully we can keep them alive because apparently they are very hard to take care of.

This is a Parade Magazine from a month or so ago.  It has an article about wounded soldiers who are recovering from significant war injuries and Rob's sergeant was one of the people featured.  He's not the one on the cover but there is a nice picture of him and his father.  He's come a really long way...his injuries were extensive but he has an amazing attitude.

Rob has this habit of leaving his socks in random places in the house.  Usually they're clean and he's keeping them out for when he goes running next.  I shouldn't complain, since I leave my clothes on the floor in our bedroom, haha.

We went to this beautiful lake in Wilton and went swimming.  Here you can see the mountains in the distance.  Couldn't have asked for a better day :)
